G523: KIDS FUN FOR ANY MONITOR - great fun for those with older PCs

although all have also been tested successfully on a 486. Look best in colour
but all OK in mono (Hercules) too (some will need a CGA emulator,please ask).
TOYBOX (93) S.SCHUSTACK - nice collection of "toys" for all ages - play
various pianos (playback your compositions), draw with mouse or keys, or even
travel to another universe (we don't recommend this if you're subject to
headaches!). 90K. 5-ADULT; $19 (extras); ANY MONITOR. ****
CLASSIC COWS (93) E.TILENIUS - this is a fascinating text file (we provide a
viewer) with over 100 cows drawn using only text based characters - some are
really quite hilarious! 80K; 6+; PD. ABY MONITOR. ****
CAR MAKER v2.0 (89) OPTIMUM - although only CGA graphics ( mono OK with an
emulator) this is quite complex. Design, and save, cars. All customisable -
petrol tank size, body style and shape, engine size, windows, decals, tyres,
suspension, etc. Road test each new design, place in wind tunnel to check the
aerodynamics. You also get a full written report. Fun! 130K; 7+; FW. CGA ****
TROOPER (86) G.KUPERBERG - ancient CGA shoot - em up, blast helicopters out
of sky to prevent parachutists landing! 5+. 16K. CGA. ****
COMPUTER AIDED TROPICAL FISH (88) AYDU SOFTWARE - colourful animated fish
tank display / screensaver for ANY MONITOR. 7K; $10 (source code). ****
RACECAR (88) W.SOLEAU - fun for all! Steer the car around 78 miles of track,
avoiding slicks, jumping ramps etc. 6+; 70K; FW; ANY MONITOR.****
SKIING (85) R.DEAN - avoid trees, pick up bonuses. Nothing fancy but we
rather like this nostalgic game! 6+; 26K; PD; ANY MONITOR.***

Here's some more for those with very old PCs. All again Ok an a 486 if you
want to reminisce on how things used to be!
CAN'T SLEEP (94) ANOTHER COMPUTER CO. - just doodle with mouse or keys to
pass the time. Save the best ones. 11K; FW; ANY MONITOR (best in colour). ***
FORTUNE v3.0 (93) J.HANSON - particulary useless program that will make
decisions for you! BUT its one redeeming feature is that it will also pick
out any number of random numbers between a specified range - use it for the
NATIONAL LOTTERY if you've had no success to date! 35K; PD; ANY MONITOR. ***
SUBWAY SLEUTH v1.3 (91) S.HERRING - hunt the missing jewels by travelling the
subway and following clues left by the thief. Travel from A Street (down-
town) through to Z street (uptown),using express or local trains. The busiest
interchanges are based on vowels (A, E, I, O, U street). Clues are based on
alphabet - to look in the zoo travel to Z street, bank is on B street, etc.
Simple text based graphics are very good, train doors opening, closing etc. A
FAVOURITE! Fun, yet helps spelling, reading and alphabet. Monetary reward
(high scores). 7+; 100K; $8 (extra options); ANY MONITOR. *****
LAWN v2.0 (87) C.ORR - another favourite that achieves good game play with-
out fancy graphics, although it is best in colour. How much money will you
earn for mowing the lawn? or will you contantly crash into walls, dogs and
other obstacles and wreck all available mowers. After every 10 hits you must
go to the shed and replace the blades! GREAT. 5+; 90K; PD; ANY MONITOR. ****
EYEMOVE (93) - simple winking eye display/screensaver. 2K; PD. ANY MONITOR.
MUNCHER (87) K.CHUVALA - good centipede type game. 25K. ANY MONITOR. ****

NINE MENS MORRIS (91) C.LANGIN - good version of this ancient strategy game
originally played with stones (also known as The Mill). With built in
tutorial and skill options. Mouse or keys. Ages 10+; 280K; $10 (tips). ****
HURKLE (94) CASTLE OAKS - hunt the hurkle in the 15x15 grid. After each guess
the PC gives you directions. Teaches compass directions and the basics of a
binary search. Full explanation and hints. Ages 8+; 30K; FW; ****
TOWERS (94) CASTLE OAKS - another classic puzzle game, with animated solution
if you get stuck! With useful screen savers (best in colour) including two
that accept scrolling, personalised messages. Ages 8+; 40K; FW. ****

CASTLE (84) an old favourite. Trapped in a deserted castle, you must find the

KINGDOM OF KROZ (89) APOGEE 1st of the original Kroz trilogy. Search through
25 levels for the priceless amulet. Gems, traps, spells and lots of

PITFALL (84) ancient game that is too fast on anything but an XT. Guide your
ship down pit without hitting the wall. 6+; 25K; PD; ANY MONITOR.
GRIDZLE (93) S.WEBB (UK) difficult puzzle, arrange grid numbers in numerical
order. 14+; 30K; £10 (save/restore, competition); ANY MONITOR. ***

G163: ZZT (91) EPIC MEGAGAMES

If you like Kroz games you'll love ZZT. Similar in concept with 16 colour,
text based graphics that will run on any monitor (better in colour but fine
with mono too). In this first game (town of ZZT) you battle with 100s of
monsters in an immense game world. Collect gems, keys. Use your torch. Loads
to puzzle over, needs a quick brain as well as reflexes! Also a game editor

multi level complex and must fight spiders, dragons and sea monsters on your

WARI (87) WESTCOMP 12 bowls. Move beads from any of your six one by one in an
anti-clockwise direction. Score by capturing beads. Quite tricky. 2 levels of

MEMORY vR1.2 (87) J.SAPIR concentration with a twist! 54 turned cards. Match
two to score. All have animal names, 4 of each except Hyena (extra points for
matching this). Careful! certain animal pairs hate each other and you'll lose
points. 1-4 players. Make your own characters by editing text. 25K; 6+; $5;

MATCH-IT (87) based on a TV show. 40 cards, match two to win a "prize". Each
match also gives you a guess at the mystery number (1-99). Needs 2 players.
Although dated, it actually covers a variety of important skills in a fun way
